COVENANT FOR LEARNING 2007-2008

Believing in the Holy Scriptures as our witness to the importance of covenants, promises, or agreements between God and us, and between one another, we have prepared this Covenant got all those involved in our confirmation program through Our Saviour Lutheran Church.

1. As learners, we believe it is important to attend all classes.

IF absences become necessary due to illness, we expect learners to MAKE UP sessions within a two week period. Learners must contact the Pastor or Sunday School teachers (mentors) and complete their assignment and class hour work. Class frequency: one time a month (Saturdays, usually for a period of a few hours and every Sunday during Church School hour)

2. As learners, we believe it is important to worship as a way to enrich our faith, and to participate as members in Christ’s community.

Twice a month, learners will be asked to complete WORSHIP NOTES sheet, which will be available in the narthex of the church, as well as available at class.

We want all learners to worship regularly, 3 times a month, as the best, and minimum of twice for doing the WORSHIP NOTES.

3. As learners, we believe it is important to complete assignments both to prepare for class time and to reinforce what we did in class.

There will be monthly a special session for: SERVANT, FELLOWSHIP, or LEARNING events which are part of the core curriculum and are found on the class schedule sheet.

4. As learners, we believe it is important for youth to participate in the life of the congregation.

As acolytes or other worship roles in our services.

Gather with us in learning, worship, and fellowship times of the congregation as a whole.

5. As learners, we believe it is important to attend Church Camp to form relationships and to live the faith in human community.

Therefore, we want everyone to attend Bible Camp in June, 2002. Learners will assist in fund-raising activities to raise the necessary scholarship funds or else pay the entire tuition, themselves. Generally, campers make their deposit of $100, in January, 2002. The balance of $150 is due prior to June, 2002. If you work on fund-raisers, all or a good part of that balance can be ‘worked’ off. If you choose not to work for those funds, the balance of $150 is the family responsibility.

6. As learners, we believe it is important to live the life of Christ in both word and deed among class members and beyond.

That is, displaying love, patience, and acceptance of each other.

COVENANT DUE DATE: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH

As learners, parents and pastors, we believe these covenant statement are a minimal summary for growing young men and women in the Christian faith.
